Get Trenching

Trench

I believe that there are two types of people in this world: the people who see a classic Burberry trench that die a little inside and would happily pass over their credit card details while in a Burberry coma. (I may or may not fall into this category…) Then there are those who think, ‘really, it’s so boring I wouldn’t by one for my nana.’ (Secretly I’m still hoping my nana will slip me one for a birthday.)

Yet this season mega British fashion house Burberry Prorsum has successfully cultivated a piece to satisfy all; the Metallic Trench. The Spring/Summer trend is available in 6 electric shades and can be purchased at http://us.burberry.com/store/trench-coats/womens-trench-coats/. It’s time to choose your armour!
Try a cheaper yet still viably trendy Plastic Trench from ASOS. I promise this one won’t break the bank!

Can’t quite picture yourself shining down the street in electric pink?

And for those who fit into the first caterogy...
Here's a little something we can dream about tonight! X

HOW YOU DO: Wide Leg Pants

Wide Leg Pants

Seen the wide leg pant roaming around your neighborhood? Time to introduce yourself and befriend a pair.
Like many people, this style of trouser can be a little scary to try on; (anyone else get that initial tent feeling?)
but when styled right can be a knock out piece for the office, the weekend or a classy night out.

For the office: Try a peplum style top as it adds the required element of structure while still keeps you in your feminine. The other work option is a simple tee, tucked in and belted to define your body for a clean and sophisticated look.
Weekend wear: The thing about a great investment piece? It can carry you from work to the weekend. Wide leg pants really are no exception. For lunch dates and Saturday mornings to yourself try a light tucked in top with a pattern or colour. If you're feeling super stylish play up your masculine, try a classic man style shirt half tucked in with sleeves rolled up. Feel  the power!
Night out: Take your legs out for a spin and add a little sparkle! To keep it simple again try a shirt tucked in, but of course go for something with lots of detail like sequins or beading. For the serious street style gals, show off the midriff and wear a cropped shirt. The fullness of the pant allows for some skin to be shown, so if you've got it, flaunt it!

Still have an excuse not to try a pair? I'd love to hear why below!
If not, it's time to get walked away with wide legged pants.

A Morning with MARC

Can’t think of anything better than to wake up to a conversation with Marc Jacobs? Neither could I, hence my reasoning for tuning into livestream.com to eavesdrop on Fern Mallis interviewing the prince of fashion. Thursday’s interview recapped Jacob’s major accomplishments and struggles, as well as his current state of mind and where the genius is headed in the near future.
The interview is now available to watch at livestrem.com, so instead of recapping the conversation I thought I'd share a number of things that I most fascinated about Mr Jacobs when listening :

1. Number one selling perfume, Daisy was named after his dog.
2. Marc has been trying to develop a fragrance for Louis Vuitton since he was employed for the company, but the brand refuses to sell to duty free stores.
3. Admits that as much as he loves designing costumes, he will never work with dancers again.
4. Loves costume parties, the bigger and more extravagant a costume the better.
5. Is addicted to smoking, trying to quit several times the longest he has lasted is 7 months.
6. After dealing with some pretty heavy substance abuse problems, he admits that it was mainly nutrition that got him back on track.
7. Openly says how he is till self-conscious about the way he looks.
8. Thinks, ‘Tom Ford is a heart throb.’
9. Has dressed the one and only Miss Piggy.
10. Quoted, ‘when I don’t believe in myself, I turn to people who believe in me.’
11. Admits that he ‘loves attention’ and isn't a very linear thinker.
12. Believes that things are only temporary.
13. Announced that Marc Jacobs will be releasing a makeup line… hooray!

After treating my senses to this delightful interview I found I have a new respect for the comical personality that is Marc Jacobs. Surely a man I would pleasure myself to meet in the future.

A Boyfriend kind of Saturday

Spend Saturday with your Boyfriend

And by that I mean your boyfriend jeans of course! Sleek that hair into a clean bun, apply a dark shade of red to your lip and grab your favorite black bag. (Think either something along the lines of Chanel lambskin or large Longchamp tote.)  Leave your real man at home and go treat yourself to a morning of retail therapy and lunch with your favorite girls. Have a little you time this weekend!
Boyfriend jeans are a great option compared to your usually skinny - they're way more comfy and look 100 times cooler when styled right.
Stylist tip: Remember to incorporate elements of structure into your assemble featuring boyfriend jeans, so you yourself avoid looking like a man. Either add a structured shirt, or in the example above a extremely structured shoe and hair style. That way you're still feeling mega comfortable and looking ultra chic, win win!

Questions to answer, from the lovely mystylediary.blogspot.com.au

1. What is your favourite fashion item?
This question is so hard.. but going from what I wear the most it would most likely be leather pants. A few seasons they replaced jeans in my life, I just find them sexy and so comfotable- is there a better combination?

2. What is your favourite Starbucks drink?
I'm defiantly a soy latte type of girl, yet when the weather heats up I do prefer an ice tea.. but I have been meaning to try a iced green tea latte!

3. What is your favourite colour?I love black and white, but guess technically they don't count! I do love mustard and orange, loving mint for spring.. I enjoy bold colours, things that are eye catching and have a pop to them.4. Where would you most want to visit?
Malian, (going in May!) and New York, preferably in Winter. Also i'd love to see L.A!
5. What is your favourite season?
Honestly this changes for me all the time.. yet the answer is never spring as I get almost impossible to deal with hayfever. I love summer for it's fun and easiness, Winter for it's darling coats, boots and warming accessories and Autumn for it's layering, comfort and earthy tones.
6. What is on top of your wishlist?
At the moment, I'm dying for a pair of Alexander Wang boots. I found  them browsing on shopbop.com and they are now the background of my Ipad. They're black calfskin leather and are called Anouck Chelsea Booties with Rose Hardwear. Seriously, look them up!

7. Who is your favourite actor?
I'm not one that's massive on movies.. let alone individual actors. But with saying that I don't mind Kate Hudson, she's pretty good.

8. What is your favourite song?
I generally adore anything that comes out of the mouth of either Lana Del Ray or Kanye West, they to me scream genius with every song they write.
9. What is your favourite clothing brand?
All depends on the mood I'm in, but over all I love Marc Jacobs, Balmain, Rachel Zoe, Topshop - but we'll leave it at that or we'll be here all evening!

10. What makes you smile?
Little things, like, getting Vogue in the mail every month and smelling the freshness of the cover when tearing open the plastic, seeing other people smile and enjoy things you've enabled them to have (this is why I live and die for personal styling), things that are clean, fresh and organised, that actually makes me feel incredibly calm and peaceful.

11. What is your guilty pleasure?
Watching hours upon hours of runway shows, it seems what ever task I should be completing, i've always got a spare few minuets to do some serious fashion viewing!

Stripe Story

Stripe Story

As most of my week has been spent recovering from wisdom teeth surgery, I have quite enjoyed over indulged in two things - 1. The joys of pureed fresh fruit & 2. Watching countless Ready to Wear shows for Spring 2013. The things that delight me about these new indulgences? Easy; not having to chew my food and the astronomical amounts of fun designers are putting into their collections for the season. Whether it's Louis Vuitton's chessboard mini dresses, Fendi's coloured leathers or Marc Jacob's serious stripes, Spring is defiantly a season that needs to be jumped into with full fashion force. Spring is officially the best time to try on those tricky patterns, wear stripe on stripe (as featured above) and add a little funky to your style. (Yes I did just use the word funky, but I do feel it was appropriate.)
So ladies, Time to uncover from those winter coats and jump into something a little more fun... You'll be haunted by shop windows of colour and print if you don't give it a try!

Your Sugar Fix, Minus the Calories

pastel

The healthiest and chicest way to get your sugar fix this summer? Pastel suiting's.
Featured above in Balmain's 2013 Resort collect, the clever compilations show us the versatility of the once almighty power suit. With the use of sorbet lemons, peachy hues of pink and intense ice blues the French creative director of Balmain, Olivier Roistening shows the industry her take one the perfect summer suit.
While remaining stylish and classy, the light collection has a flowy and relaxed feel yet is structured enough for demanding attention in the work place. But don't limit yourself; with tailored jackets and wide legged trousers the summer suit can be worn with extreme versatility. Take it from the office to lunch, then make a dinner date with an accompanying pair of fierce black pumps and killer chain necklace to make a statement.

The Semi Permanent Statement

Still holding your breath? Time to exhale, Alba's people have confirmed it's a fakie. The style queen and hollywood superstar was inked up in Atlanta for her role in the upcoming film, 'A.C.O.D.' set to be released on the 23rd of this month.
As comments and images began to swell up my news feeds of the latest celebrity ink blot, it got me thinking of how tattoos really are just a form of self expression - just like a more permanent Balmain Jacket or Chanel bag. So even if the mother of 2 decided on a permanent bicep tattoo, who really are we to judge?
Now are the times where people want to show their opinions and values to the world, something I think should be encouraged on a global level.
Love or loath tattoos? Leave you'r opinion xxx

PRINT It Forward

Does anyone else feel like they went to sleep in June, and woke up in 2013?
With a new year appearing in our diary's and calenders I think it's time to show 2013 what we're made of... good taste in fashion and an attitude more daring than Marc Jacobs. With good styling printed pants (yes I mean pants and not skin hugging lycra leggings) can be worn at any age while still looking suitable and stylish. Personally I feel adding a little print if fun and enhances personality and character through dressing, they tell the world who you are with out you having to say a word.
Above are some quick and easy ways to jump into the new year with some funky trunks on. Keep accessories clean and simple, something like a plain coloured geometric earning or a large faced watch would ideal.
Enjoy this trend and enjoy your new year, which I guarantee you will with a little print in your life!
