#MBFWA: BEC & BRIDGE

With the two Australian bomb shells being in business since 2003, they are certainly no longer the rookies of Australian Fashion Week, currently being held in Sydney.
With a now international following and exclusive Tony Bianco designs, their Spring/Summer 2013/14 collection was one that left the fashion following begging for more.

Highlights included white, pajamas like silks floating down the runway in such feminine easy and wearable silhouettes. The effortless and futuristic glam continued as whites morphed into metallic pastel sheens and prints. Not to mention the tailored vests and white sequins.. oh my!

Over all the collection was a hit, with many pieces being snatched up straight off the runway from a hungry crowd of fashion goers.

Now to wait until 4pm to watch the marvouls Alex Perry and his
beautiful new Spring/Summer range.
The show can be viewed here at at JASU.com
Enjoy Fashion Week Australia everyone! X

Who You Calling 'Baggy'?

Have comfort and style finally agreed on garment that can be worn without losing all fashion sense and street cred? Or have designers abroad been affected by all those triple strength lattes during fashion week to maintain their sanity and social appearances?
With the turn over trend of baggy leather pants back on the scene it seems that style icons and fashion bloggers alike can't get enough of the latest style. Spotted just about everywhere an 'it' girl would find herself the baggy leather trouser has definitely moved in for winter, and with a myriad of ways to wear there is no excuse not to put your styling hat on and get experimenting!

Now if this isn't evident enough that people are actually digging this look, I've hand picked  4 pairs from some of my favorite designers to help share the loving around. Brands like Lavin, Alexander Wang and Rang & Bone have all done their part in reinventing the 2010 trend where design houses such as Bottega Veneta and Reed Krakoff sent the super sized pant down the runway.

OH DIOR

Christian Dior Fall 2013 RTW: Look 15.
Image from Style.com

If the Melbourne Cup is referred to as ‘the race that stops the nation,’ then Paris Fashion Week should be the week of ‘holding our breath until blue in the face’ from the monumental and majestic creations that flaunt down the runways before us. With the usual highlights of Alexander McQueen, Balmain and Chanel showing off their latest master pieces, one show failed to flood my body with delight: the Dior show.

With the ready to wear show being Raf Simons second for the design house, I found myself tilting my head and raising an eyebrow over quite a few of his most recent creations. Now I’m not at all claiming that the show was a disaster or that the clothes were hideous: I believe that all fashion is a creative and complex creation that should be given the recognition it deserves, it was just not at all what I had envisioned the show to unfold.

With a clouded sky surrounding and strategically placed mirrored spheres on the staged runway, Simons admits that he wanted this collection to represent the art world, and be a ‘juxtaposition of something surreal compared to something very real.’ He was interested in having a collection that spoke about feelings and emotions that could be related to both dreams and reality. The ready to wear selection to him was like a ‘personal scrapbook.’

The full show can viewed here on Dior’s website, watch it and let me know how you feel about it. To arty or to emotional? Or just absolute perfection in your eyes? I’d love to hear your thoughts X

TOPSHOP X J.W ANDERSON LOVE

TOPSHOP X J.W ANDERSON

For anyone who has ever spent more than 30 seconds with me, they will begin to understand my deep love and affection for everything Topshop. It may have something to do with London culture, the diverse weather change from sunny Australia, or the simple fact that I dream of rolling around Oxford Circus gaging for the retail madness.

Either way, the latest collaboration with J.W Anderson has been no exception to the usual heart palpitations (hello cardiac arrest) I experience when viewing new Topshop lines.

The collect is so simple and mod: simple colours, simple cuts and simple lines… it even had loafers and backpacks. I’ve picked a few of my favourites from the range (excluding the boutique leather skirt, but I just thought it matched perfectly!) I adore the colour used for the dress and top, I just feel it’s such a trans seasonal and wearable colour. What do you think? Would you wear it? The full line can be viewed here at Topshop here

PU

PU

This seasons take on the never fail military jacket? The addition of leather sleeves.
It's the coat that can take you from walking to lecture to lecture in the rain to a stranger mistaking you for an off duty model (with the addition of a slouch beanie of course.)
The added detailing of the sleeves is a knock out all round, suiting the chicest chicks to the grungiest of grunge girls: so there is no excuse not to get your paws on this perfect outwear.
After reading that, I know what you're thinking: 'there is no way in hell I can afford leather sleeves,' and fact of the matter is you're probably right. That's why I've done the hard work and found four show stoppers that meet the trend with out leaving your debit account empty. The answer: PU sleeves. A synthetic leather made to look and feel the same, a cheaper alternative with out the cheap feel. Give it a try, pull up your skinnes and lace up those boots and prepare yourself for war.

Casual Call Out

Untitled #23

Recently I was browsing around the world wide web, I stumbled upon Cotton On's website where I discovered that the fashion chain has added another brand to their growing line: 'CO. by Cotton On.'The current collection is made of very trendy and fashionable pieces, that all have an edgy rock star finish. With a little something for everyone the new line is extremely wearable and versatile and includes everything from scuba dresses to faux fur jackets to pleather pants, tees and textured knits.

For a quick, pull on and go look I've selected CO.'s 'Edge Contrast Vest' for $49.95 and paired it with a classic black skinny jean. As far as foot wear goes I don't think anyone can resist these Alexander Wang boots... they give me some serious chills.

Slouching Around

Untitled #24

We all have those days when we 'just can't be bothered.'

No energy to put that coat of mascara on, no time create a show stopping look, because in fact you just want to run down the street, do what you have to do an pray you don't run head first into anyone you know. But aren't these the days when (excuse my language) look and feel like absolute shit, it seems like everyone you know has been condensed down into a small population that finds themselves inhabiting the one place you need to duck into?

My advice here is; when you feel your worst, dress your best. When you're not rocking your confident self on a Saturday morning, do you think throwing on your daggiest trackies and a slouchy tee is going to make you feel any better about yourself?

Now i'm not implying that you should do your weekly groceries in Louboutin heels and a leather midi skirt, something simple, chic and comfortable with a little colour will do just the job. Spend that extra 5 minuets in front of the mirror and pull that hair into a nice bun, not a messy 'I'm having a bad hair day bun' and combine a simple pant and relaxed fit top of your choice.
Slide on a coloured shoe and a simple stud to match, and make sure that manicure has been topped up and is ready to go. Now you have an efforless look that prepares you for anything the day could throw at you, you're dressed to impress! (and not to scare away the cashier at the register!)

Enjoy your day fashion lovers x
